My Reduction

A recount from the decision to the recovery!

Surgery

Okay so Today is the day!, I am up it's 6:30 and I am tired.  I had a shower, washed my hair and put on a pair of scrub pants and a zipped hoodie so that it will be easy to put on later.  I will post all about the surgery just a soon as I can with some pics from the hospital.  Wish me luck!!

Well I am home!!

Okay so the surgery went okay................I do have to say it's painful, majorly!! When I woke up in the recovery room I was in so much pain that I just kept crying.  I got post surgical apnea, so they kept me in the night at the hospital to rest and watch me..  I am not going to write about it now because I am dopey and sore.  I will write about the whole experience in a few days!  Below are some pics after it was all done.  Warning the pics aren't pretty!

April 12th, 2006

Well this will be a short entry, I am very sore and very tired.  When I feel better I will write about the exact account of what happened during my surgery.  When I came home on the 11th, we found out that my bank card had been duplicated, so we were busy dealing with that.  I am tired, and my energy to do anything is short.  I am just allowing myself to sleep when I am tired and basically not doing to much at all.  I will write later.

My Surgery

Okay so this will be the last post I make on this tab.  I am going to explain what happened during my surgery and hospital stay, and from now on I will post on the recovery and next tabs.

I went into the hospital at 9:30am, my surgery was set for 11:30am.  When we went to check in the lady told us that my surgery was not until 2:30pm.  So basically I was at the hospital 5 hours too early.  I was so pissed off.  So to the waiting room I went and spent an hour sleeping on the benches, walking around, watching movies on the laptop, and just talking with my husband.

I was called in at 1:00.  They had me change into a hospital gown, and told me to take everything off except my underwear.  I was happy about that.  So once I was ready they took me into a room and measured my legs for compression stockings.  I didn't know I was going to have to were these, but apparently my surgeon uses them on all her Breast Reduction patients.  Once they had the right size, I put these stockings on mind you it was very hard as they are extremely tight.  I had my IV put in and they started clydimicyin (can't spell) for the antibiotic.  Then I waited and waited.

My surgeon came in 5 minutes before they took me in and took photos of me and drew all over my chest and neck.  She was also measuring me everywhere.  From there I went to the operating room and spoke with the Anesthetist.  They told me about what they were going to do and then started my injection of "happy" medicine.

Once I woke up in recovery I was crying and couldn't handle the pain I was feeling.  I was afraid to breath (because it hurt) and felt so sore I thought I was going to die.  They gave me Morphine..........I know this because morphine make my nose itchy.  The nurses put my surgical bra on and transferred me to another post op area where my husband could see me.

My Plastic Surgeon came in looked at the incisions and decided to keep me the night because I was in soooo much pain and had a bout of post surgical apnea.

I was taken to my room about 8:00pm that evening.

After I arrived in my room the nurse gave me a shot of Demeral and I talked with my husband a bit and then he left.  I tried to sleep but it hurt so bad.  The first time I got up and went to the bathroom was an adventure seeing as I had to walk right by the mirror by the sink.  I got my first look.  I looked good!! so I thought, I actually looked like shit, but it's kind a like after you have a baby and you think you are so skinny but in actual fact you still look 5 months pregnant.  LOL.  Anyway morning came the plastic surgeon came in at 2pm and looked at me.  she then proceeded to take off the tape that was holding the stitches and skin.  That hurt but also felt good.  I was told by her to use maxi pads instead of gauze between my bra and the incisions.  Oh man did that feel good, and the pressure from the surgical bra was relieving as well.  So that was that, I was told to come back in 2 weeks for the stitches out and I could go home.  Once I got to go home I was so happy!! however the car ride home was awful.  Any bump hurts!!!!
